Iceland Air takes off from Dulles International Airport
Date: Friday, May 13, 2011, 11:26am EDT
Iceland Air starts seasonal service from Dulles International Airport to its hometown Reykjavik starting next week, after a three-year hiatus from the Washington market.
Iceland Air pulled out of BWI/Marshall Airport in January 2008.
Its inaugural flight from Dulles is next Tuesday evening and appears to be a very big deal for the airline.
Iceland Air's first flight out of Dulles will get a water cannon salute, and reception at the gate will include Icelandair CEO Birkir Holm Gudnason as well as Iceland's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ossur Skarphedinsson.
